BSJC Mission & History:
The Boise Saddle and Jump Club's mission is to support the English style
of riding. The club pursues this by sponsoring clinics, organizing horse
shows, writing a newsletter for hunter/jumper enthusiasts, and providing a
forum where members can learn new issues and advancements in the
training and care of hunter/jumpers.
The Boise Saddle and Jump Club started in 1966 and was initially called
the Highland Saddle and Jump Club. Today our membership approaches
100 with members from across the state and from neighboring states. In
2004, due to a benefactor's significant contribution, we were pleased to
move to our new home, the Idaho Center in Nampa, Idaho.

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL BSJC MEMBERS!
You may be aware that Carol Swig is applying for a permit to build an indoor arena on her property located
on Linder Rd just northwest of Eagle. The approximate location is just a little northeast of the corner of
Beacon Light and Linder Rds and immediately north of Julia Dupuis' property on Beacon Light Rd.
If approved, the arena will be the only arena in this area with dimensions appropriate to riding
multiple-jump and multiple-stride lines and Carol will provide it to BSJC for clinics at no cost. Carol has
been a firm supporter of our club and for the past two show seasons has been the sponsor of the large
tent that we've enjoyed as a refuge from the blazing sun.
Carol has supported us in the past, intends to support us in the future, and now it's time for us to return
the favor!
The application is currently being reviewed by the City of Eagle and is scheduled for a hearing by the
Eagle City Council on June 10th at 6pm at the Eagle City Hall on E. Civic Lane in Eagle. The City will make
a recommendation, either in favor of the application or in opposition, to the Ada County Planning and
Zoning Commission.
The Ada County Planning and Zoning Commission hearing will be at 6pm on June 19th in the main hearing
room, #1235, on the first floor of the Ada County Courthouse at 200 W. Front St, Boise.
There is some local opposition, small but very vocal, to this project that has used misinformation to object
to this project. We need your help to convince the Eagle City Council and the Ada County Commissioners
of the real need for this project.
We all know how difficult it is in this area to find an indoor arena that is suited to our sport and is available
at a reasonable price. This arena would be of tremendous benefit to our club and our sport and we need
to make sure that message is heard and understood by the officials at Eagle and Ada County.
Please attend the two scheduled meetings, with all the riders in your family or a group of friends, and be
prepared to voice your support. If you cannot attend, please send a short letter to the following addresses:
Eagle City Council
C/O Mayor Phil Bandy
PO Box 1520
660 East Civic Lane
Eagle, ID 83616
Ada County Planning & Zoning Commission
C/O John Traylor, Director, Ada County Development Services
200 W. Front St
Boise, ID 83702
In your letter, let them know that there is a shortage of sufficient arena space for our sport and that this
project is needed and appropriate for the area.
In addition to the letters you mail, if possible, please either mail, email, fax, or drop off a copy to Jim
Desmond and he will get them to Carol's representative who will be making the presentations. Jim's fax is
938-1270 and his address is 2773 Haven Drive, Eagle, ID 83616
Thank you!
