Michael Knight is the owner and head trainer of MDK horse training based out of Salt Lake City Utah.
Experienced in all aspects of horse and rider development, including: Young Horses, Rider and Horse Biomechanics, Backing/Starting, Hunters, Jumpers and most importantly Horsemanship - both on the ground and in the saddle.
Over the last 3 years Michael has honed his skills as the Assistant Trainer at Balmoral Farms. Working under the guidance of Carleton Brooks, training, preparing, riding and competing at top venues across the country such as Devon, Pony Finals and the Indoor Championships.
Michael has a passion for teaching, guiding each rider to find equanimity with their equine partners so that both can reach their potential in a balanced, “horse comes first” mentality.
Prior to his time at Balmoral, Michael spent 10 years developing and started top Hunter and Jumper horses for the esteemed breeding program of Pony Lane Farm, taking each horse from halter breaking, to under saddle, to the show ring.
During this time he also ran a full training business coaching and developing riders from local shows to national venues including the NHS ASPCA Maclay National Championships and Pony Finals.
The spring clinic will be a three day format. The Friday sessions are limited to trainers only. The 2-day Sat/Sun clinic will be open to 20 riders. First riders served are those who have pre-paid and registered online, in order of registration date. Session times will be sent out prior to clinic. Registration deadline is April 17, 2026.
